Creative Crossroads: A Block Party for Designing Minds
At DA+, we are always looking for ways to strengthen the design community. One way we have done this is by creating a design “hive,” sharing our brightly sunlit courtyard building with colleagues from various design-related fields. For more on that, see this great write-up in Seattle Magazine! In our building you can find Ore Studios Interior Design, SCJ Studio Landscape Architecture, and lumberjill, an Owner’s Representative. In addition to sharing our workspace every day, we schedule regular happy hours to encourage cross-pollination between these professionals with different areas of expertise.
Last week, we invited designers and craftspeople from our vibrant Ballard neighborhood to share in this cross-pollination. This “design block party” included artists and partners Mya Kerner and Zak Helenske, Chad and Emily Robertson of ChadHaus, Shara Lee and Elisabeth from Kerf Design, Bill Herzog from HM Duke Design, artists David Harto and Nancy Stentz, and Adam McNae from McNae Designs. So many potential collaborators, all within walking distance! The conversation ranged from metal fabrication to furniture design, painting, pottery, and land speed records.
Let us know if you’d like to get in on the action!
