Modern Bungalow

This second floor addition and whole-house remodel transformed a simple craftsman cottage into a modern family home. Inspired by the owner’s keen eye for design, it is marked by crisp lines, warmth, and simplicity.

Making Space

Removing a masonry fireplace and relocating the stair to the center of the house meant less area used for circulation and more for a spacious mudroom and a bright basement bedroom. Clean, modern takes on traditional details tie together the new work with the original house.

Clean and Simple

The homeowner’s first thoughts about the project included words such as open, light, calm and serene. Careful thought was put into eliminating clutter and providing space for family togetherness. The palette of blues is reminiscent of the owner’s childhood summers sailing on Long Island Sound.
