Tree House

Inspired by the hillside site and the owners’ childhood memories, this family home was designed to feel like a walk in the woods.

The Details

The living room, suspended like an aerie over the forest floor, is surrounded by trees on three sides. Windows and decks on both sides look over a woodland meadow on one side and Puget Sound on the other, and allow activities to flow from indoors out. The tucked-in kitchen is a warm, modern refuge at the heart of the house, and the red steel stair echoes a fire lookout, tracing a path up the hillside.
